Day 12 Goes into Space

Hey Hey Hey it me for a very long time since March Jesse Herrera. You know I been notice you look like you're too old. I'm just messin with you. Were learning about Space, Astronomy, and The Solar System. That's right. The Sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. Mercury's Distance from Earth is 0.61 AU. Mercury's Distance from the Sun is 0.39 AU. Mercury's Diameter is 4,879 km. Mercury's Period of Rotation is 58 days, 15.7 hours. Mercury's Period of Revolution is 88 days. Mercury's Atmosphere is Very Thin. Mercury's Moons is No Moons. Venus's Distance from Earth is 0.28 AU. Venus's Distance from the Sun is 0.72 AU. Venus's Diameter is 12,164 km. Venus's Temperture is 464 Degrees Celsius. Venus's Period of Rotation is 243 days. Venus's Period of Revolution is 224. Venus's Atmosphere is CO2. Venus's Moons is No Moons. Earth's Distance from Earth is 0 AU. Earth's Distance from the Sun is 1.0 AU (93,000,000 miles). Earth's Circumference is 40,053 km. Earth's Temperature is - 40 degrees Farenhiet. Earth's Atmosphere is Nitrogen, Oxygen, Carbon Dioxide, and Other gases. Earth's Moons is Earth has 1 moon and it circles the Earth every 28 days. Earth's Other Interesting Information is Earth is the only planet in the solar system that is known to have the combination of factors that are needed to suport life. Earth appears to be the sparkling blue oasis. Mars's Distance from Earth is .52 AU. Mars's Distance from the Sun is 1.52 AU. Mars's Diameter is 6,794 km. Earth's Temperature is -13 degrees to -77 degrees Celsius. Mars's Period of Rotation is 24 hours, 37 minutes. Mars's Period of Revolution is 1 year, 322 days. Mars's Atmosphere is thin; made mostly of CO2. Mars's Moons is 2. Mars's Other Interesting Information is Nickname: The Red Planet probably used to have liquid water Most Studied Planet Liquid Water cannot exist there now. Jupiter's Distance from Earth is 4.2 AU. Jupiter's Period from the Sun is 5.2 AU. Jupiter's Diameter is 142,984 km. Jupiter's Temperature is up to 30,000 degrees Celsius. Jupiter's Period of Rotation is 9 hours, 55 minutes. Davids journal

In Ms. nagels class we did a science experiment outside about sugars we had 4 of them labled. Then we lighted it under then we were waiting which type of sugars burned first and then we wrote them down on the paper. After we were done with the project and went back to class and we started to talk about diferent things that happened. One time we disected a squid and we took the needle to sepeate its tenicles apart.

The Name is Bond, Chemical Bond

Were here in Ms. Nagle's class discussing the valence electrons. They're going over the worksheet and figuring out how many electrons is 'Ne' away from an octet, and using Lewis Structure. Students are answering and discussing. Ms. Vibbert and Ms. Nagle are helping around with some kids that are trying to understand it. The easiest way to find the answer is by looking at the Periodic Table up top shown. They are reading the definition of Ionic bonding. Four students are going up front to participate, two ionic and two covalent. Many students are focused on the lesson in a quiet way. Ms. Nagle and Ms. Vibbert are trying to make a student smile by sharing its electron. Gabriel asked, "Why do I have to share my electron." They responded by saying that the other electron needed one more to get eight in total. There is eight new students in our class and helping to catch them up and review what has been done. Some students are noting things down and others are getting it in their heads at the moment. Ms. Nagle is walking around and looking at students work and making sure they're on task. Carline is teaching the lesson today to Ms. Nagle's class and explaining it most clearest she can for everyone to understand. Many are excited for today they're going work on their lab and make experiments. Carline is drawing the figure for students to have a drawing to what it's like. Covalent is sharing not giving the electron completely. They're getting the equipment together to give the students. They are doing one today outside with a group of students its going to be a 'Melting Point' and another experiment on Friday. Everyone is excited on starting, they're explaining the directions and safety. There is some safety concerns: fire [flammable] and to never give your back to it and be as careful as possible. Ms. Nagle was just surprised about seeing me type her name and Ms. Vibbert smiled at here knowing what is going on. There is going to be smoke in this experiment. The students are joining groups and looking for partners to work with in the experiment.

Day 7: Cold Cold Dayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

Hey Hey Hey Hey What's sup everybody! How you all doing very very good. Um, The Park Ranger will talk tommorow. And what is this Doesn't really matter. Everybody is Writing their question so they could ask the Park Ranger. That boy asked"How do elephant seals live?", Shawn asked "How far they go under the ocean?", I asked" How old is the Elephant Seal?", Jubenal asked "How fast they swim?", This kid asked"How fat are they?" Manuel asked "How are elephants in the desert sleep there?", That Girl......

Dissecting a Squid

Students are very excited about this project. they are very loud at the beginning of class the class is set up with newspaper on the tables and beautiful bright gloves to protect their hands. Each student is given scissors, two pins to hold down squid, and tweezeers. Mrs Vibbert is placing a squid onto each try and placing it on the table. the students are laughing instead of puking.  I chose to blog to avoid puking, the smell is discusting. Im learning that Squids change colors to camaflague in water. Mrs Vibbert is showing the students all the body parts. The mantle(body), the eyes, the beak (the mouth) etc...
They are now cutting through the mantle which is very thick so its not easy...yuck! The part of the squid that we eat is the mantle. Im pretty sure ill never eat calamari again. The students are saying that the insides look like peanut butter and that is true, yuck. We have a couple of girls that couldn't take it so they quit and watched. A couple of boys went a little overboard and had to be asked to quit before time due to thier unnessary cutting of the squid. One exceptional student found the heart of his squid.Their was only one girl who took the smell and completed the dissecting. Maybe she will be a docter, what a brave young lady. The students learned that the fins, gills, tenticles, and the flippers help the squid to adapt in the water enviroment.

Day 2: Rainy Day Period

HEY HEY HEY HEY HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY Welcome back GUYS! Welcome Back So we are about to see that we are doing Some Groups for the Periodic Table of Element. I choose Group 3-12: Transittion Metals. Look in the Physical Science Textbook on Pages 202 - 208. The atoms of transition metals do not give away their electrons as easily as atoms of the Group 1 and Group 2 metals do. And that's all for today but don't worry i'll be back one day See Ya Later.

Day 2: Rainy Day Period

YOOOOOOOOOOO Were back coming up were going to do the Periodic Table of Elements:
1. Helium He Neon Ne Argon Ar
2.They are in the same column
3.Hydrogen (H) Lithium (Li) Sodium (Na)
4.They are in the same column
5.Each element has valence electron than the previous element.
6.As you move down a column, you gain an eletron ring
7.Alkaki - Lithium (Li) & Sodium (Na)
7a.Alkaline - Berylium (Be) & Magnesium (Mg)
7b.Boron - Boron (B) & Aluminum (Al)
7c.Carbon - Carbon (C) & Silcon (Si)
7d.Nitrogen - Nitrogen (N) & Phosphrus (P)
7e.Oxygen - Oxygen (O) & Sulfur (S)
7f.Halides - Flourine (Fl) & Chlorine
I'm tired I'll keep blogging later Part 3.....

Day 2: Rainy Day Period

Hey Hey Hey Hey What's up everyBody. My name is Jesse Herrera and I'm the blogger of the day. Today we starting our new activity called worksheet of the periodic table. Everybody is doing great David is about to color, Joshua is cuttting the cards, Shawn is talking to Jubenal, Jubenal is talking to Shawn, Gustavo is doing nothing, Manuel is playing Vmath, Diana is cutting the cards, Yeodennis is also cutting the cards, and Vanessa is playing Cool Math Games.
